“What you practice, grows stronger”
This is my favorite mindfulness advice.
It’s really easy to understand, doesn’t require any special robes or rituals, and is a practice, if we actually try & apply in our lives – is truly transformative.
We are ALWAYS practicing something.
So choose well.
It doesn’t make a difference how many hours you meditate, or how man spiritual sounding sayings you know, if we practice anger, jealousy, fear, resentment, greed or hate, we are “baking” those qualities into our very brains, our bodies, and our being.
If we practice love, compassion, kindness, care, connection and curiosity, we are making and molding those qualities, and reinforcing those connections in your body and brain, in the very same places and spaces where the entirety of your experience, appears.
When I look at my own life, I can see how often my inner experience, doesn’t match my words.
I can talk the talk, but often…..where it matters most, I’m not walking the walk.
And while we may be able to fool other people, we can’t ever fool ourselves.
And if you want to live well with the neurotic neighbor in your noggin – the voice in your head that never shuts up, is always keeping score – if you want to be happy, to show up for yourself and those that you love, this is really the only practice that matters.
