Free on the Inside

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way”

Viktor Frankl

I know in my own life, my inner state is usually a mirror – perfectly reflecting the causes and conditions in my outer experience.

When life is good – when the fates are treating me kindly, which they often do – I feel good about my lot in life.

But when shit goes sideways, I tend to go side-wise, inside wise, along with it.

This is, of course, not a great way to live – vulnerable in any moment to the turning of tides you can’t ever quite control.

But of course, it’s the experience that most of us choose.

The good news, we can always choose anew.

“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves”
